Dating and domestic violence affect the victim, but also affects his/her family, friends, coworkers, and communities. In this interactive workshop, participants will move through various scenarios as victims of sexting, pregnancy, homophobia, and stalking, and as well as the victim’s dating partner, family, friends, counselors, police, and others. Participants will leave the workshop: better able understand the impacts of domestic/dating violence on an individual, family, and community, able to recognize the progression of dating/domestic violence and the warning signs of abuse, become familiar with lethality assessment tools and safety planning guides in working with clients who have and/or are experiencing dating/domestic violence, and explore cultural considerations in working with clients who have and/or experiencing dating/domestic violence. This workshop is appropriate for counselors, social workers and other behavioral health workers.
