In this workshop we will: look at treatment considerations for substance abusing clients who are involved in the criminal justice system; review the differences between the criminogenic model and the medical model; learn the major set of criminogenic risk/need factors and describe how to use them in developing a treatment plan; and examine the eight principles of evidence-based practice and what works in changing offender behavior and reducing recidivism. This workshop is appropriate for substance abuse counselors, MFTs, social workers, nurses and other behavioral health practitioners.
