This training will feature a brief overview of the SAMHSA publication TAP 21: Addiction Counseling Competencies: The Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes of Professional Practice and TAP 21 -A: Competencies for Substance Abuse Treatment Clinical Supervisors. Participants will be given an electronic copy of the publication and will be offered assistance to design and implement basic in-service education about the publication at their own agencies. With many Social Workers working in the field of addictions and co-occurring disorders, the information offered in the TAP 21 guides, as explained in this training, are trans-disciplinary in nature focusing on referral, service coordination, clinical evaluation, and treatment planning.
