This workshop provides participants with an overview of the recent history and most current theories of emotions, how they are defined, how they influence treatment and how they relate to all addiction disorders. Much of our work will include differentiating emotion from cognition and from behavior. We will also be learning how to incorporate emotion theories, including emotional intelligence, into the treatment of addiction disorders and counselor burnout.
