The mental health and addiction (MHA) treatment field is starting to acknowledge the ways in which some ancient healing arts can be helpful to their clients.  For example, mindfulness and yoga, pillars of the mind-body-spirit orientation to health, are now frequently incorporated into recovery practices. Self-help orientations are broadening to incorporate Refuge Recovery and Wellbriety along with the more traditional 12-step type meetings.  As clients seek enhanced pathways to sustaining their recovery it is critical that MHA practitioners understand, refer, and be trained in how to utilize appropriate alternative activities and therapies.

Moderated by two of Northern Nevada’s ancient art proponents, guest teachers who specialize in various complementary treatments will introduce tools and practices that can augment traditional strategies. With Yoga, Mindfulness, and Energy Medicine as the core foundation, the workshop will include opportunities to better understand such treatments as Reiki, Functional Neurology, CMS, Neurofeedback, Acupuncture, Matrix Reimprinting, IBP, IFS, EMDR, and more. The workshop will also highlight EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and MBRP (Mindfulness-based Recovery Protection,) and emphasize the importance of incorporating these additional treatments within a trauma-infused approach when assisting clients in their long-term wellbeing.
