Trainees learn about the similarities and differences between stress, crisis, trauma, and toxic stress. They consider some of the challenges trauma survivors experience when expressing their emotions. Participants explore several concepts that can support trauma survivors in de-escalating. These concepts include safety, power/control, communication, empathy, naming feelings, and validation. This training includes small group activities, large group discussion, and didactic material.
