Working with Older Adults with Histories of Trauma and/or Unsafe Behaviors A trauma-informed approach to addressing elder abuse and neglect, including self-neglect. The training offers a present-focus, collaborative process focused on safe coping and reducing risk/increasing safety for elders. Up-to-date research on the connection between earlier trauma and current un-safety will be provided. A short screening tool, recommended by the Academy for Professional Development for Adult Protective Services, will be discussed and practiced.
