This course is designed to inform participants about the basic principles of caring for persons who suffer from withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. The course will review the state of Nevada’s laws and regulatory guidelines for operating and working in a Level 111.2 D (Social Model Detox Program) and a Level 111.7 D (Modified Medical Detox Program), and will include a section on commonly used medications for detox along with a skills-based section on the proper way to measure, record, and report vital signs. A significant portion of the course will be dedicated to teaching participants about the biopsychosocial aspects of withdrawal from AOD and will also address engagement and retention strategies at this level of care. An Additional 2 CEHs are available by completing training with a registered nurse on how to use the blood pressure cuff to determine the client's blood pressure. When the hands-on the training is complete; fax, mail or scan and email a statement indicating your name and the date of the training, the nurse's credentials and signature and the signature of a supervisor. When this statement is received in the CASAT office a separate certificate for 2 CEHs will be prepared.
