The instructors in this webinar will describe and demonstrate various ways clinicians can engage families in the therapeutic process. Research shows that the more a client's family participates in the treatment episode, the more successful the client will be. Working with families helps achieve optimal communication and strengthens relationships. The instructors will discuss how to talk and work with families starting with the initial screening, through treatment and up to discharge. They will suggest ways clinicians can encourage parents, spouses, siblings, etc. to support their own and the client's recovery. Learning objectives - 1. Participants will receive an overview of the importance of including families in the therapeutic process. 2. Participants will acquire information to increase their ability to engage family members in treatment. 3. Participants will acquire skills and tools to work with families and clients in order to optimize successful outcomes for the client and the family.
