In this course, participants will discuss and practice resolving these and other ethical issues within the contact of the ethical standards in the Nevada Administrative code (9NAC) 641C. These standards also will be compared to the ethical standards of other mental health practitioners and professional groups. This workshop includes the ethical code for Marriage and Family Counselors (MFT's). This workshop also includes the ethical code for licensed and certified alcohol and drug counselors,along with a review of NAADAC's ethical code. "FASD Part I: From Brain & Science to Family, Institutional & Criminal Context Impacts, Progression in National Developments and Trends." Through video and related discussion, this keynote presentation presents an opportunity to learn about the problems that members of this population have to deal with throughout their lives. The video presentation will illustrate the type of brain dysfunction that is commonly observed in children and adults with FASD. In addition, the presentation will deal with other important considerations including the science that explains the cause of FASD and the cognitive, executive, and adaptive behavioral deficits caused by fetal alcohol exposure in utero. Other subjects of current interest include the family, institutional, and criminal context of FASD, the progression of knowledge regarding prevention and mitigation of the condition, and national developments and trends.
