Adolescents in treatment present with different challenges than adults i.e. the involvement of a family system, puberty, and educational needs. Not all adolescents are created equal and addressing a 12- yr-old's needs are far different from a 17-yr-old's so do we put them all in the same treatment group? This workshop will discuss issues treatment providers face working with adolescents struggling with an AOD and mental health problem. Discussion will address assessments, family issues, sexual health, peer relationships, educational needs and challenges facing integration of care. This workshop is appropriate for social workers, mental health providers, and substance abuse professional.
