This workshop will focus on common sexual health concerns for couples including desire discrepancies, problematic pornography use, conflict related to sexual dysfunction, restarting a dormant sexual relationship, and more. We will use systemic perspectives to learn to help couples improve communication, intimacy, and acceptance, and we will utilize motivational interviewing to give feedback and share accurate information. Clinicians will examine how to formulate therapy goals in light of the larger context of healthy sexuality including sexual intimacy, sexual authenticity, and sexual empathy. The facilitator will use case examples of healthy and distressed couples compiled from practice and research. Content will include a diverse range of relationships and couples, including LGBTQIAP, polyamorous, open, faith-based, and monogamous. The workshop will include discussion and awareness on helping couples where one or both partners are in recovery from addiction.
